A new approach to financing films which benefits both producers and financiers…
There has never been a better time to get involved with the British film industry. In 2015, UK independent film production continued its growth trend of the past decade, with indie films accounting for 11% of total box office sales (the third highest figure in history).
A number of blockbuster indies including The Lady In The Van and Legend broke multimillion pound ground, overtaking 2014’s box office figures by 17% while ticket sales in 2015 reached an incredible £1.24 billion. The film industry is essentially recession proof as Home Entertainment compensates for any reduced box office during economic downturns.
In addition, the UK film industry continues to enjoy record investment by the biggest studios in Holywood, with big screen hits such as Star Wars The Force Awakens (as well as the forthcoming Rogue One and Episode VIII) having been produced in the UK thanks to the Government’s Producers’ Tax Credit.
